Awards Prizes & Honours Policy

Download the Institute's Awards, Prizes and Honours Policy for more information about the Awards Program. At the November 2018 Council meeting, some changes were made to the policy that come into effect for the 2019 Awards Program. Key changes include:

  • Self nominations are now required for both Sustainable Architecture and COLORBOND® Steel for Architecture categories
  • Changes to the Small Project Architecture category 
  • NSW/ACT boundaries 
  • Projects in all countries besides Australia must be entered into the International Chapter Awards
  • Support of various jury compositions at Chapter level 
  • In order to enter the 2020 Awards Program, you must be a financial member of the Institute for 12 months and 1 day

2019 Awards Entry Handbooks 

It is a requirement of entry that all entrants read and understand the Awards Entry Handbook. The Handbooks are also an excellent resource for helping to develop a successful Awards entry. Give your project the best possible chance to succeed and familiarise yourself with the Handbook before commencing your entry.

Copyright Forms

It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the following three Copyright Consent Forms are completed and signed. This year, entrants are required to submit these forms to the Institute as part of the online entry system.

Terms & Conditions

National Council has approved updates to the Awards Terms and Conditions of Entry ( item 5) regarding the use of promotional materials, including images, for the purpose of promoting architecture and the Australian architectural profession. 

When entering the Awards you are agreeing to the above terms and conditions about the copyright and moral rights of third parties, like photographers. So, when commissioning architectural photography for use in the National Architecture Awards program ensure you have negotiated appropriate usage rights with your photographer for third party use by the Institute. You can also use the template Consent Forms provided with the Awards Handbook for this.
